We are now taking bookings for 2021
If you have a preexisting booking with us that was cancelled due to Covid-19, then get in touch to find out about re-booking if you haven't already.
Please note that there may be some changes to our terms of hire depending on what social distancing measures are still in place at the time. We are currently updating all of our bookings so keep an eye out for new pictures and other materials that should make it even easier to book with us!
St Barnabas Church was originally a church plant over the road in what is now our Church Halls. Dating back to 1922, the halls retain much of their historic features but have also been renovated over the years to make them a great venue in the 21st Century. With access to a kitchen, two car parks and accessible toilets, the halls are well used by private bookings, community events and regular clubs and societies. It's location on the A38 makes it the perfect location, with easy access to Gloucester, Stroud, Cheltenham and the M5.
Our small hall can accommodate around 40 people, perfect for smaller events or where you are after a more homely feel. The hall is a "blank slate" with access to a fully equipped kitchen, toilets, an accessible toilet, baby changing facilities and access to both the hall and church car parks. There are tables and chairs available on request at no additional cost. We don't offer catering so you have the freedom to cater for your event how you wish!
If you need a larger room, perhaps for a party, a dance, a society dinner or even a play then you can upgrade to our main hall. You can fit around 100 people seated at tables and still have room for a dance floor or a bouncy castle! The main hall has the same access to the car parks, kitchen and toilets but also has a stage, which can be used by bands, speakers, actors and anything else you can think of!
As with the small hall, we encourage you to use the room as you wish with our only ask being for you to put the room back together after! Our main hall is popular in the community so do get in touch in advance.
If you are looking for a larger venue for a concert, conference or art exhibition then our main church building may be perfect for you. Originally built in between 1938 and 1940, the Grade II listed building of St Barnabas was designed by the revolutionary architect Nugent Cachemaille-Day, who was responsible for the most innovative ecclesiastical buildings of the 20th Century. It's ornate high ceiling lends itself to beautiful acoustics, perfect for any live music performance!
The building has a raised platform, an integrated sound system for radio or plug-in microphones or for playing audio tracks and a screen for an overhead projector should you wish to use it. For musicians, we have a Yamaha Electric Grand Piano and an Organ. In 2016, we hosted the Three Choirs Festival and previous visiting choirs have either used our choir stalls or the platform - the choice is yours! Performers or speakers can make use of the side chapel as a waiting area should they wish to wait "off-stage". At the back of the church, there is a small kitchen with a fridge and hot water. If you decide to serve refreshments, you are welcome to use our tables, which could be laid out for intervals or breaks. The whole building is accessible and there is a side door that wheelchair users or people with prams can use. There is also an accesible toilet (and baby changing facilities?)
If you are celebrating, then why not book one of our halls as well to treat you team to a meal or to have a place to rehearse.
