Changes to Gathered Worship
In order to keep everyone safe, we are no longer meeting physically and our church building is closed. Our "Church" is very much open and we have increased our online presence in order to continue ministering in our parish and keep connected. You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. During the week, we are live streaming Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer Monday to Saturday with Family Prayer on Saturday morning. Messy Church and Messy Little Church is still happening and we are live streaming in a private Facebook page. We are hosting our Sunday Worship on both Facebook and YouTube. All of these videos can be found on the page Videos at the top. Small Group meetings are still taking place over Zoom and the Music Team are meeting using both Facebook and Zoom. Everyone is very welcome to join any of our worship and we would love to talk to you more about any aspect of our online ministry.
Community is at the heart of what we do at St Barnabas and we are trying stay connected to one another but to also reach out into the community. We are working closely with other community leaders to provide support to those in isolation or otherwise unable to access the resources they need and are proud to be supporting a number of projects. Our Facebook page "Community Net" is a fantastic place where community leaders share projects, initiatives and requests for support. It is open to everyone to join so if you would like to find out more about these project please find us on Facebook. We have close links with the care homes in our parish and continue to support them in whatever way we can, whether that be by prayer, delivering necessities or sharing video content. We have developed the Barnabas Buddies scheme to try and prevent anyone 'slipping through the net' due to difficulties with accessing technology. Barnabas Buddies is a phone-only scheme where a volunteer regularly rings their buddy to catch up and check in. If you or anyone that you know is isolated, lonely and in need of a chat then please contact Katherine Kear.
Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals
There have been a number of changes and updates to guidelines for baptisms, weddings and funerals. We understand that this is challenging for everyone and we are doing our best to ensure that we support people in this time. For any enquiries about baptisms, weddings and funerals, please see the guidance on the Church of England website or contact Rev Sarah Todd. The Church of England are reviewing their guidelines in line with Government advice and we will update this page when we know more.
