Coronavirus update: 24/06/20

We are planning on opening for Private Prayer, this coming Sunday 28th June. Please click here for more information. The Government has also announced that from July 4th, churches may open for Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals and Services, limited to 30 people at maximum. As with the last announcement, this is the Government giving us the "green light" to open and we have some more preparations to make before opening fully. Please get in touch if you have any enquiries about Baptisms, Weddings or Funerals.

Changes to Gathered Worship

In order to keep everyone safe, we are no longer meeting physically and our church building is closed. Our "Church" is very much open and we have increased our online presence in order to continue ministering in our parish and keep connected. You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. During the week, we are live streaming Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer Monday to Saturday with Family Prayer on Saturday morning. Messy Church and Messy Little Church is still happening and we are live streaming in a private Facebook page. We are hosting our Sunday Worship on both Facebook and YouTube. All of these videos can be found on the page Videos at the top. Small Group meetings are still taking place over Zoom and the Music Team are meeting using both Facebook and Zoom. Everyone is very welcome to join any of our worship and we would love to talk to you more about any aspect of our online ministry.

Community is at the heart of what we do at St Barnabas and we are trying stay connected to one another but to also reach out into the community. We are working closely with other community leaders to provide support to those in isolation or otherwise unable to access the resources they need and are proud to be supporting a number of projects. Our Facebook page "Community Net" is a fantastic place where community leaders share projects, initiatives and requests for support. It is open to everyone to join so if you would like to find out more about these project please find us on Facebook. We have close links with the care homes in our parish and continue to support them in whatever way we can, whether that be by prayer, delivering necessities or sharing video content. We have developed the Barnabas Buddies scheme to try and prevent anyone 'slipping through the net' due to difficulties with accessing technology. Barnabas Buddies is a phone-only scheme where a volunteer regularly rings their buddy to catch up and check in. If you or anyone that you know is isolated, lonely and in need of a chat then please contact Katherine Kear.

Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals

As announced this week, the Government have given the "green light" for Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals to go ahead, subject to  appropriate social distancing measures being put in place with a maximum of 30 people. At St Barnabas, we need to think about what this means for us so at the moment we are unable to give a clear date as to when we will begin taking bookings for these events. For any enquiries about baptisms, weddings and funerals, please see the guidance on the Church of England website or contact Rev Sarah Todd.

Don't suffer in silence. We are living in challenging times at the moment but although we are physically separated we are still united in Christ. Look after yourself and seek help if you need it. We are just at the end of the phone if you need us and there is help available.
